Ultra chic Alex and friends are back this year in a stylish MOD look. All of the basic dolls are wearing black jumpsuits with versatile collars and patent leather mini skirts that come with a with a black belt accessory. Each of them has the straight hair with bangs that is so necessary for the Mod look. All of the Basics wear black patent leather flats which look fantastic with the bodysuits and, because they are the only dolls who can! Mod Alexandra Fairchild Ford™ is available as a redhead with a lavender skirt, as a blonde with a hot pink skirt and as a brunette with a red skirt. Mod Jadde Lee™ with black hair has a lime green skirt while brunette Mod Paris Williams™ has an orange one. And, dark haired, Mod Sofia Cruz™ wears a yellow skirt.

Yes, that's right! There's a new staff member at Élan and her name is Sofia Cruz. She's a welcome addition who will bring a touch of salsa and Latin spice to the pages of the magazine. That, as well as her taste and beauty, is clearly apparent in her first choice of a gown this year. La Vida Sofia Cruz is a devastatingly beautiful, ruffled gown of magenta, iridescent silk with a sheer ruffled wrap. This strapless gown is accessorized with a necklace, dangle earrings and a copper metallic purse. Her upswept, brunette curls help to highlight the drama of the elegant look of La Vida Sofia Cruz.

Both Paris and Jadde attended the party given by Élan to introduce Sofia Cruz and "did their new friend proud" by dressing in their best gowns. Wild Orchids Jadde Lee has a very sleek look, from the long auburn hair with the fuchsia beaded flower to her chartreuse silk sheath. The dress is hand painted with tropical flowers and lined with the same color that is on the reverse of the matching shawl. Long beaded fringe has been knotted onto the shawl, which, along with "gold" filigree earrings are the finishing touch for Wild Orchids Jadde.

Amethyst Paris Williams couldn't look sexier than she does in a Grecian inspired white knit dress with stud accents and ribbon with gold ring straps. "Gold" shoulder length earrings, strappy gold sandals and "gold" bracelets enhance Amethyst Paris Williams' look. And topping it all off is her modern take of a Greek hair-do. Braids, which are "touched with gold", have been swept up into a swirl on her head, while several have been allowed to remain loose to flow down her back.

Élan did a spread on "Uptown Girls in Downtown Chic" that featured three of everyone's favorites;
Hot Pants Jadde Lee has Jadde in green and fuchsia, slim brocade pants and an asymmetrical styled corset top that has green satin ties. She wears two bracelets on her arms and carries a large embroidered fuchsia bag. Flat fuchsia sandals, a pink rhinestone tattoo on her shoulder and her black hair styled in pigtail twists above her ears are all Jadde needs for a hot, hot look.
Alex looks just right for a day of boutique shopping in Soho Style Alexandra Fairchild Ford. A top stitched, suede burgundy jacket, low slung denims with a washed look, an ivory shirt with a rhinestone and stud pattern and a jewelry belt give Alex a Soho Style look which only needs the burgundy suede shoes she wears, and the burgundy angora hat on her head, to finish it off. Sunset Paris Williams will light up any room in her red satin corset and orange brocade pants. These can be worn by themselves or with an embroidered, saffron silk short trench coat that is part of the ensemble. Tan suede sling backs decorated with red beads, a small clutch, earrings and a necklace look fantastic with this outfit as does Sunset Paris Williams' ponytail hairdo.

For relaxation, Alex decided to do some acting at her local community theatre and was cast in two ingénue roles;
Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's wears the black dress and big hat look that women all over the world copied when the film came out. Alex's black dress is a knee length sheath with fringe. And along with Holly's signature wide brimmed hat, Alex's outfit includes sunglasses, earrings, a black purse and pumps. This ultra smart ensemble looks as good on an articulated Alex as it did on Holly.

A totally glamorous gown you are definitely going to want to own is Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Sabrina. An articulated Alex with brown eyes and chic French wears the sumptuous gown that was featured in the movie. Made from white silk, the strapless, floor length gown is embellished with black embroidery that replicates the design of the original gown. Her beautiful train, which attaches at the waist and is lined underneath with pleated Black English net, can be taken off, if desired, for a sheath look. The outfit worn by Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Sabrina is accessorized with earrings, black, patent leather, flats and long, white opera length gloves.

Her Aunt Amanda Fairchild™ caught a matinee of "Sabrina" wearing a vintage, blue tweed suit. The double-breasted, hip length skirted jacket features velvet French cuffs and collar and, looks terrific with a calf length slim skirt. A pink camisole with black lace edging peeks out from beneath jacket and provides a modern touch to a retro look. Jewelry, a small clutch bag, black hose, black pumps and a wide brimmed hat, complete with hat pin, are exactly what you'd expect with such a classic outfit.

For the wrap party for Breakfast at Tiffany's Alex chose to wear Haute Hollywood, a sheer black, gathered at the waist, beaded chiffon gown that emphasizes a midriff that is wrapped with ribbons in the Greek style. Strappy black sandals and beaded dangle earrings highlight Alex's Haute Hollywood platinum look. All that's needed is a purse, and the one Alex carries is a small, round, black one decorated with a black and white pinwheel design.

For an absolutely sophisticated look you have two choices: Brief Encounter Alexandra Fairchild Ford is dressed in a short skirted, red satin suit that is closed at the waist by a black belt. Alex's flowing gold locks are set off perfectly by the black turtleneck that is worn beneath the jacket. Black patent leather heels and, boots along with a red patent leather bag are the accessories that add just the right touch to this outfit.
Days of December (available as an outfit only) features a smart, grey alpaca, high-necked sweater with textured wide-legged black pants. Black boots and purse as well as the silk blouse worn underneath the sweater will have the wearer strolling confidently along any avenue she chooses.

And if you are looking for trendy, you'll be happy to know Basic Trends is being offered this year, and is available as an outfit only. Knee high red leather boots set off a straight, short skirt that is made of red hound's-tooth with a tweed pattern in varying reds. A black, attached high waist, a long sleeved, ivory blouse, a necklace and a round leather purse with round handles will have the wearer looking very trendy indeed.

For those who have been clamoring for a closet, your prayers have been answered. Clothes Call Armoire is your answer to clothing storage needs.
