Madame Alexander® Evokes the Simple Pleasures of American Life with a New Americana Collection
2004-01-01

There are things in all our lives which make us think of home, and the lives we cherish. They are the simple pleasures that mean the most. And nothing means more than the Welcome Home we hear and feel when we walk in our door. The feeling is as sweet as the little, red-headed, 8" new classic Wendy the Alexander Company has created. She is wearing a dress of light and royal blue striped taffeta with a royal blue velvet inset at the waist, and tiny, Cluny lace at the waist and on the sleeves. The dress is embellished at the waist with a cluster of rose buds in varying shades of red, and finished with a long red satin bow. Her petticoat and bloomers are made from white eyelet, and her white Mary Jane's are trimmed with white stars. You'll know you're where you should be when you see the banner Welcome Home is holding, for it says exactly that.

Remember when it seemed like the best idea to write letters to someone in another country or town? Pen Pal does! She is so excited about writing to her new friends in the military that she has dressed for the occasion. This 8' new classic Wendy has blue eyes and long, wavy Tosca hair with bangs. She is wearing blue and white gingham, sailor inspired dress that has a red and white striped inset at the neck, and, a white collar and sleeves that have been trimmed with red satin ribbon. Her skirt, which covers an eyelet petticoat, is trimmed with white lace. Her red, pointy toe Mary Jane's looks just right with her white socks. In her hand she carries a letter she has written to a service person Pen Pal and, pictures of others to whom she has also written,

Setting Sail for ports unknown is the new 8" Asian sculpt with long dark hair, brown eyes and bangs. She is ready to make new friends, in typical American fashion, dressed in her pleated white linen sailor dress. The dressed is trimmed, from the sleeves to the skirt, with a navy band of white stars, and covers her little white step-ins and petticoats. White socks, black Mary Jane's and a white straw hat, with the same trim as the dress, completes her outfit. Setting Sail is also available as an 8" Caucasian.

What more deserves to be in the Americana collection than the new Soda Shop Coca Cola doll? This 8" total move, red-headed Wendy is dressed in a white, drop waist dress with a pleated skirt that is trimmed with red ribbon. All her accessories, petticoat, shoes, and stocking are white, as is her straw hat. But the hat is trimmed with a lovely red ribbon. In her hand, Soda Shop Cocoa Cola hold a glass of the elixir that made her famous, and, she also comes with a period wire chair so that she can sit and relax while she enjoys her drink!

Celebrating America is what Americana is all about. Those customs, crafts and skills which developed alongside the brand new country, and have been handed down through the generations, such as the making of a red, white and blue star quilt. Quite like the one on the 8" brunette Celebrating America doll. She has a quilted front panel on her blue dress. A white, criss cross pattern decorates her bodice and there are white bows on her sleeves. The outfit is topped off with a charming, lace cap that ties under her chin.

And just in case these new lovelies are making you wish for even more Americana, Madame Alexander has decided to offer Yankee Doodle, Daddy's My Hero and Victorian Coca Cola for another season.
