Madame Alexander® Pays Homage to the Classics and the Arts with a New 2004
2004-01-01

What could be more classic than a ballerina? Madame Alexander has created new "Primas" for your pleasure starting with Dance under the Stars. This 16" ballerina is flat chest and features a ballet leg. Her tutu has a Blue Moonlight satin corset that is trimmed with black chenille braid and laces up the back. Her skirt shimmers with layers of baby blue tulle and is trimmed at the waist with a black-faggoted fringe. The hem of the skirt is decorated with a beaded and embroidered ribbon. Nude pantyhose, black toe shoes and a black velvet choker complete the picture for this ballerina who has been preparing to Dance under the Stars.

Land of Sweets presents a new, classic Wendy with bend knees, brown eyes and black curly hair. This little bonbon wears a tutu that has a bodice of gold and striped silk taffeta. There is a burgundy ribbon lattice at the bodice's center front and a braid trim across the neckline and waist. Ivory and antique gold sleeves compliment the gold of her skirt. Nude pantyhose and antique gold ballet shoes as well as forget-me-knots in her hair and a burgundy choker are the finishing touches for Land of the Sweets.

Wearing a costume of pink taffeta and layers of pink and blue tulle Principal Ballerina sweeps onstage. Her tutu has been adorned, at the hem and waist, with a pink organza that has been beaded and embroidered. With her upswept blonde hair, blue eyes and long Lissy legs, she is breathtakingly elegant. A pink sequined necklace and pastel pink toe shoes give this Principal Ballerina just the right look for her next entrance.

Tutu Cute is just that, too cute for words, in her dainty tulle tutu with a ruched multi-colored bodice. The hem of the tutu has been edged with ribbon and her blonde upswept curls are held in place by a ribbon that matches. Toe shoes and tights complete the look of this darling little dancer.

If you'd rather read instead of dance, there is always the compelling story of "Little Women". In our chapter this year, Amy's Party Dress, blonde Wendy, with hair that is upswept in the front and flows down the back, goes to visit an aunt in France. Since "tulle was cheap in Nice" she draped it over a white moiré taffeta that had a hint of pink tulle, and added "rosy clusters of azalea and framed the shoulders in delicate green vines'. Sheer stocking, pantaloons, petticoat and a lace fan create a perfect ending to the chapter of Amy's Party Dress.

A first for Madame Alexander. is Wendy Ann Felt, a molded and poseable felt doll. With painted hands and face, Wendy Ann Felt has a mohair wig and is dressed in a blue and white cotton batiste dress. A white straw with ribbons and flowers enhance her sweet, sweet look.

Pirouetting in for another season is The Red Shoes and Twirling Confetti. Also on hand, to visit Amy, are her sisters Meg, Jo and Beth, along with another version of Amy. Anne of Green Gables and Anastasia have also been invited for the fun of it!
