ÉLAN ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR PARIS SCOOPS THE COMPETITION IN STYLE! FAB NEW FASHIONS FOR THE 16-INCH BEAUTY FROM MADAME ALEXANDER'S 'ALEX' DOLL COLLECTION
2002-04-04

Editor-in-chief Alexandra Fairchild Ford knew she'd made the right decision when she brought her long-time friend Paris aboard as Entertainment Editor of Élan magazine, the fashion world's hottest new "bible." Clearly, Paris was born for the job. And with her distinctive good looks and innate sense of style, Paris looks - and dresses - the part.

Elegant, worldly and in-the-know, Paris has the inside track on all the latest entertainment news. Adept at separating rumor and gossip from actual fact, Paris usually manages to get the jump on the competition, scooping them for Élan. In the coming months her busy schedule will be taking her everywhere from interviewing the hottest music acts at the "Concert for Peace" to professional meetings, and her versatile wardrobe allows her to look the part no matter what the occasion.

First Stop: Newport. Becoming the most popular fashion magazine on today's newsstands takes vision, dedication, faith and most of all, hard work. Knowing the Élan staff needed to recharge and enjoy some well-earned R&R away from the City heat, publisher Richard Sebastian offered a change of scenery by hosting a creative retreat at his beachfront home in Newport, Rhode Island over the 4th of July weekend.

Nothing could be further removed from the heat and humidity of a summer day in New York City than a Clambake on a beautiful beach in Newport and Paris fully appreciated the difference! Dressed for casual fun in an outfit by Timothy J. Alberts, one of her favorite designers, Paris wore belted white pique cotton shorts with a flirty navy-and-white houndstooth halter and a matching white pique cropped jacket. Ankle-tied navy and white wedge sandals can be kicked off for a game of pick-up volleyball and a navy shoulder bag is the perfect carry-along. Trendy white sunglasses and the glint of silver hoop earrings compliment Paris' playful look. Clambake is sold as an outfit only.

The following day came with an invitation for a day at the races - sailing races, that is. For the occasion, Paris fittingly chose to wear Regatta, a fitted coatdress in a flattering shade of powder blue. A white picture hat banded with a powder blue and white striped ribbon at the crown perfectly set off Paris' classic profile and looked as jaunty and nautical as the sails billowing on the water. She also pinned a blush-colored rose to her lapel and carried a blue and white gingham handbag with silk rope handles to complete her look.

Next? Back to work. And while locking in in-depth interviews with the hottest musicians participating in the benefit "Concert for Peace" at France's Elysee Palace, Paris hits her stride. She got the jump on the fierce competition by wearing Backstage Pass, a chic new outfit designed by the Madame Alexander Design Team. Embroidered black lace is put to the test in an abbreviated crop top with a scoop neck and long sleeves. A slinky long skirt in the same fabric rides low on the hips and gets added interest from meridians of hematite-colored glass beaded trim above the knee and at the hemline. Black lace lingerie and stockings are subtle under-statements and high-heeled sandals with beaded straps carry the rest of the message home. Hematite-colored glass bead bracelets and dangle earrings together with a coordinating genuine hematite necklace add just enough gleam for an already glittering occasion. Paris wears her long hair down, plaited into numerous delicate braids accented with crystal hair gems that catch the light and glint off the attractive red highlights around her face. And the savvy little silver box evening bag she carries is juuuuust big enough to hold the tiniest of microcassette recorders! Backstage Pass is a Limited Edition doll of 1,000 pieces.

For the Concert itself Paris has chosen Crocus by Timothy J. Alberts, an elegant gown in one of Nature's loveliest shades of yellow. A fitted halter dress cut on the bias and secured by a 24 karat gilded zipper, the designer of this floor-length evening dress had Paris firmly in mind - it's clean silhouette could only be elevated when worn by the right woman. A plunging back bares inches of skin to the waist, and is accessorized simply with a trailing iridescent purple chiffon scarf, dangling shoulder-length earrings, gold sandals, and an embroidered gold envelope clutch bag. Crocus is a Limited Edition doll of 1,000 pieces.

To get the real 411 on some of the event's most legendary rockers, Paris eased into VIP, a cool outfit in hot chocolate brown. Faux crocodile leatherette clings to every curve in low-riding trousers that lace up the sides and are trimmed with a slender border of soft faux fur trim at the waist. A matching "crocodile" cropped jacket features snap closures and faux fur accents at the collar cuffs and waist hem. With her typical flare, Paris cleverly converted an attractive burnout velvet top into a sexy little halter. Open-toed sandals are the final touch for a look that whispers "VIP" without having to say a word. VIP is a Limited Edition doll of 1,000 pieces.
