Madame Alexander Goes Hollywood®
2004-01-01

What could be a more amazing combination then that of Leading Lady Alex wearing clothes from two of Hollywood's most fashionable films; Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's wears the black dress and big hat look that women all over the world copied when the film came out. Alex's black dress is a knee length sheath with fringe. And along with Holly's signature wide brimmed hat, Alex's outfit includes sunglasses, earrings, a black purse and pumps. This ultra smart ensemble looks as good on an articulated Alex doll as it did on Holly.

A totally glamorous gown you are definitely going to want to own is Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Sabrina. An articulated Alex with brown eyes and a short, chic hair-do wears the sumptuous gown that was featured in the movie. Made from white silk, the strapless, floor length gown is embellished with black embroidery that replicates the design of the original gown. Her beautiful train attaches at the waist, and can be taken off, if desired. For a sheath look. The outfit worn by Alexandra Fairchild Ford as Sabrina is accessorized with pearl drop earrings, black flats and long, white opera length gloves.

And while we're talking about Hollywood, how can we not mention that favorite of all time, Gone with the Wind™. The Alexander Company has a long tradition of producing characters from the American classic and this year is no exception. There are three new Gone with the Wind dolls to add to your collection.

Shanty Town Scarlett O'Hara™ is a limited edition. The 10" Cissette with green eyes and brown hair that has been partially swept up. Her dress is blue pique with black embroidery and has a matching jacket. Peeking out from the jacket sleeves are sleeves made of white organdy.
Shanty Town Scarlett O'Hara has a white petticoat, pantaloons, nude stockings, blue pumps with black heels and, the darlingest little feathered hat.

Matron of the Mansion Scarlett O'Hara™ is a limited edition, 8" shadow to the 21"Cissy that was offered two years ago. This limited edition has green eyes and brown hair that is swept up on the sides and flows down the back. Her white taffeta corset with white trim, her organdy petticoat with a ruffle at the bottom, white organdy pantaloons and nude stockings are all covered by her deep scarlet, velvet robe. The robe has a high color that is covered in ruffles of white lace and long sleeves that bell at the end and are also covered with white ruffles. The robe has red mock buttons running down the front, but is kept closed with a black belt at the waist that has a bow in the back. This robe sweeps along so elegantly that you don't even see Matron of the Mansion Scarlett O'Hara's™ black, leatherette slip-on shoes.

And where would Scarlett be without her "backbone", Mammy™. A new African-American sculpt had been done for this 8" doll that has brown eyes and swept up curls. Mammy wears a grey linen dress with a white apron that matches the white wrap on her hair. Beneath her dress, Mammy is wearing the red taffeta petticoat given to her by Mr. Rhett. Black, leatherette slip-on shoes complete the look of this doll who is worthy of the character as portrayed by Hattie McDaniel and for which she won an Oscar.
