There are significant moments in each life that are deserving of special attention.
Moments that symbolizes a step forward, advancement. To Madame Alexander these
are Special Occasions, times of significance that deserve to be noted and celebrated.
For 2004, Madame Alexander is introducing a new line of dolls designed to memorialize
those events you want to remember, starting with Graduation Day when the charming
little 8" doll finally has her day. And she is ready for it dressed in
her festive, white taffeta dress with blue trim and a center front pleat. Over
the dress she wears a lovely robe of sky blue satin and mortarboard of a matching
color on her head. In her hand she carries, what else, a diploma. Graduation
Day is available in blonde, brunette and African-American.
My First Communion is a day all little girls, who go through the ceremony,
remember. Especially as it's the first time they get to dress up like a bride
with a veil and white dress. The dress and veil this little 8" wears is
accented with sheer ribbon rosettes. Mary Jane's and frilly socks are on her
feet. And as a final touch, Madame Alexander has accessorized the doll with
the gifts that are frequently given on such an important day, a rosary in a
decorative box which features the symbols of First Communion, grapes and wheat,
and, a chain with a cross. My First Communion is available as blonde, brunette,
Latin or African-American dolls.
Easter Splendor presents Wendy in a white taffeta and organza dress that is
trimmed with pink embroidered ribbon. Her Easter Splendor bonnet is a lovely
pink straw that is embellished with a white satin ribbon and trimmed with pink
and white flowers. Her shoes and frilly socks as well as the gloves she wears
are white. Finishing touches for this doll are the Easter basket with colored
eggs that she carries and, her very own little bible.
Halloween is always eagerly looked forward to by all children and Halloween
with Chaos makes this tricky day even more of a treat. 6" Wendy wears an
orange gingham dress with a black felt embroidered jacket. Her brunette hair
is braided and she wears boots. Chaos tries to trick us with his pumpkin disguise
but we know it's him in there! So we will still fill goodie bags, he and Wendy
carry with treats.
And what about that day in each girl's life when she becomes Sweet Sixteen?
In many cultures, it signifies a girl's progression towards womanhood and is
celebrated with a party and pretty clothes. And, the feminine, frilly dress
Madame Alexander's Sweet Sixteen wears, perfectly suits the occasion. Made of
black velvet and tulle, the party dress worn by an 8" brunette, is dotted
with flowers and crystal rhinestones.
Finally, after having successfully gone through all the rituals of young life,
one grows up and chooses a path. In An Apple a Day Wendy becomes a nurse. This
blonde 8" wears a pantsuit uniform in traditional white, the top of which
has pockets designed to hold her supplies. Around her neck sits a mini stethoscope
and in her hand she carries a clipboard with prescription. Her white shoes and
socks complete the ensemble.
Special Occasions never do go away but enhance our pleasure by repeating themselves.
To honor the constant renewal of happy moments, Madame Alexander is bringing
back other special dolls to remind us of the times we like best. So look for
Happy Birthday, Pinking of You, Sweet Irish Wendy, Little Irish Dancer, Four-Leaf
Clover Fairy, Pumpkin Pie and Costume Party to be on the shelves again this
year. And for those special occasions that are part of each month starting with
January, the Calendar Girl Pre-Pack will still be here to mark and note the
special ness of every month of the year.
