Madame Alexander, always a trendsetter, introduced the fully figured Cissy in 1955. The epitome of the American debutante, Cissy, right from the start, dressed in the haute couture of the time. She became a fashion icon, and never more so than in the Yardley advertisements which were seen in magazines across the country, in the late 50’s.
For this 80th Alexander anniversary, the company presents Cissy with a nostalgic touch, a re-introduction of a classic Cissy, as seen in an original Yardley magazine advertisement. Lavenesque Yardley Cissy, is the beauty being offered this year. Dressed in a black fitted dress with a bow at the waist which is made from whisper and satin back wool faille, this red headed Cissy with blue eyes features the classic Yardley make-up. The sleeveless dress has a matching coat with a black fur collar, and is accessorized with rhinestone earrings, whisper “slides”, and a pillbox hat that is decorated with a rhinestone heart pin. As an extra treat, the doll comes with a coffee mug and bowl.
In 1957, two years after the introduction of Cissy, a scaled down version of the doll was presented, Cissette. In keeping with the anniversary theme, Shadow Yardley, is a blonde Cissette dressed in an exact replica of an outfit from one of the famous Yardley ads. Wearing a blue silk dress with a gathered skirt, Cissette has pearl button earrings, a pearl necklace and carries a perfume bottle.
