It is fitting that Madame Alexander has created a doll of the author of the cherished classic “Little Women”. For seventy years, Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy have been favorites with the Alexander collectors. And for the first time, in the new 2003 collection, all the major characters from the novel are available as dolls.
The Louisa May Alcott doll is an 8’ Wendy who is dressed in a Victorian gown of gold Jacquard cotton with black accents. There is a cameo fastened at her neck and she comes, as one might expect, with a miniature version of “Little Women”.
Beth’s friend and Amy’s husband, Laurie, joins the “Little Women” collection this year. The 10’ brown hair male, has pants of brushed, green twill and a jacket of brown linen. Underneath the jacket he wears a stylish vest of iridescent green silk Dupioni.
Marmee, the mother of the girls and the heart of the March family, also makes her debut this year. A dress made from black whisper, and a black and white plaid Dupioni looks absolutely splendid on the brown eyed, brown hair 8” doll.
And because no mother can leave her children behind, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy return to the line for 2003.
The Alexander Doll Company, a New York-based company, is now celebrating its 80th Anniversary, continuing the tradition, elegance and innovation of Madame Alexander dolls with a full line of fine quality, handcrafted collectible dolls, baby dolls and play dolls.
