In 1937 Madame Alexander made history by introducing the first doll based on a character from the ever popular movie, “Gone With the Wind”. Sixty-six years later, the tradition started by the Madame herself, continues to be a strong favorite with collectors. Three new dolls make their debut this year.
SCARLETT AT THE MILL CISSY™ combines two favorites, the classic Cissy doll and the character of Scarlett. Cissy becomes Scarlett in the scene at the mill. Wearing an upswept hair-do of the time, Cissy is dressed in a period gown of embroidered silk taffeta, iridescent silk taffeta and plaid silk taffeta which has been trimmed with military inspired fringe. Black flocked high heeled boots complete the ensemble, and Cissy’s transformation into one of the most fascinating characters of all time.
A 10” Cissette dressed in a tiered dress of white batiste, trimmed with white lace, and finished with a red satin ribbon sash at the waist, tells yet another part of the story, the beginning. SWEET SIXTEEN SCARLETT™ is Scarlett at the beginning of her life, when she was still young enough to wear red ribbon bows in her hair and a family cameo at her neck.
SCARLETT’S SASH FOR ASHLEY™ presents an 8” Wendy dressed in a white gathered blouse trimmed in red, and a full skirt of a matching color. Tied around her waist is the sash she wore for Ashley. Her dark hair is swept back from the front and curled up in back.
And, as Scarlett needs a chaperone, MADAME ALEXANDER®, has brought back, AUNT PITTY PAT™. This pretty little 8” doll which has Pitty’s blond curls, is dressed in a gown of royal blue and black lace, and looks even more beautiful when paired with SCARLETT SASH FOR ASHLEY™.
