Gale Jarvis’ expertise and proven track record in brand strategy, market growth, and product development have contributed to her own success, and that of the Alexander Doll Company, Inc., since her appointment as president. Early on, Ms. Jarvis determined that a winning strategy for the Alexander Doll Company would be to build upon Madame Alexander’s rich heritage, maintaining the high quality and commitment to excellence for which the brand has always been known, while simultaneously moving the Company forward into the future with new and innovative programs.
To implement this multi-pronged approach, Ms. Jarvis inaugurated a number of key initiatives such as creating new doll categories within the traditional Madame Alexander product line-up, and forging new licensing partnerships to bring the Company’s superior craftsmanship popular properties like Eloise™, Peanuts™, and Olivia™. Recognizing a growing niche for nostalgia in the marketplace, she fostered a well-received return to targeted classic Alexander dolls and to the expansion of the Company’s play doll line.
To remain competitive in an increasingly crowded marketplace, Ms. Jarvis spearheaded the Company’s venture into a new category fashion doll and may be credited with its successful introduction. Ms. Jarvis has also been responsible for adding to the classic Alexander stable of familiar faces with new sculpts for dolls from the popular ‘Alex’ doll line as well as ones of Judy Garland™™, Greta Garbo™, and Marlene Dietrich™, for the Company’s new Screen Legends series. Ms. Jarvis also instituted a plan to heighten the growing interest in Madame Alexander and increase brand awareness both here and abroad, making inroads in markets including Europe and Japan.
Acknowledgment of her many achievements came with Ms. Jarvis’ election to the Board of the Toy Industry of America. Ms. Jarvis has also served as president for Treasures, Inc., which has exclusive sales and marketing responsibilities on a global basis for art, artifacts and print reproductions from the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
In addition, for ten years Ms. Jarvis worked as executive vice president with FAO Schwarz, the leading children’s lifestyle and specialty chain, where she was responsible for strategic planning, building revenues and identifying and implementing new growth opportunities such as direct mail and the opening of 27 new stores. Prior to joining FAO Schwarz, she was vice president, Leisure World Division with R.H. Macy, one of the world’s largest department stores, where she increased profit in every department by at least 30%, among many other accomplishments.
