MADAME ALEXANDER® ADDS THREE TERRIFIC NEW DOLLS TO THE SPECIAL OCCASIONS COLLECTION
2002-09-05

Madame Alexander is pleased to introduce new additions to the popular Special Occasions Collection for Fall 2002, a line dedicated to providing terrific commemorative dolls with themes keyed to a year’s worth of special holidays. Rounding out a collection that includes favorites like Victorian Valentine, Easter Morning, Bunny Tails, Celtic Dancer, Little Irish Dancer, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Dancing Clara, are three appealing new 8-inch dolls, African American and Caucasian versions of My Heart Belongs to You and Wendy Go Bragh. Ideal for gift giving, these dolls are instant classics that make wonderful collectible keepsakes to be enjoyed any day of the year. When Cupid’s arrow lands squarely on February 14th, it is time to find that perfect gift, the one that expresses what is in your heart. A box of candy is all very well, but Madame Alexander is happy to provide an even sweeter suggestion with My Heart Belongs to You. Available in both African American and Caucasian versions, this new Valentine’s Day offering is a real sweetheart in a party dress with a finely embroidered ivory bodice with a picot-trimmed high round neck accented with a red rosette, short puffed sleeves, and a peplum. The elaborate full skirt is made from lush red velvet and has a pretty scalloped hem that resembles the petals of a rose in full bloom. An ivory petticoat with a scalloped lace hem peeks out from beneath and ivory tights and matching red velvet mary janes complete the ensemble. My Heart Belongs to You wears her hair in two braids coiled romantically atop her head, and in her hand she holds a ribbon-tied bouquet of roses for her own true love. To commemorate the “wearing of the green” on St. Patrick’s Day, Madame Alexander debuts Wendy Go Bragh, the first-ever fairy for this March holiday. A lovely lass, Wendy is dressed in a pretty gown with a shimmering emerald green metallic bodice with a sweetheart neckline and short puffed sleeves of white taffeta. The full skirt is also white taffeta and is embroidered with green metallic shamrocks outlined with gold trim. Fittingly, this little Irish fairy’s wings are green, made of transparent, finely-veined leaves unfurled gracefully behind her. Wendy has eyes as green as the Emerald Isle itself, and her beautiful red hair swept high on her head is crowned with a beaded green shamrock tiara. The Alexander Doll Company, a New York-based company, is now celebrating its 79th Anniversary, continuing the tradition, elegance and innovation of Madame Alexander® dolls with a full line of fine quality, handcrafted collectible dolls, baby dolls and play dolls. The company has created a series of "firsts" that have shaped the doll industry and has always been a pioneer of style and quality in this community. ### For More Information Contact: Jane Abrahams or Lisa Olsen, 212/283-5900 Alexander Doll Company, 615 West 131st Street, New York, New York 10027 Phone (212) 283-5900, Fax (212) 283-4901
