MADAME ALEXANDER’S FALL FASHION FORECAST 2002: ALEXANDRA FAIRCHILD FORD™ DEBUTS AUTUMN FASHIONS WITH A TOUCH OF ÉLAN
2002-09-01

Just before the spring has sprung, the fashion world focuses all eyes on the fall collections of the hottest designers to spot trends, and discover The Next Big Thing. Since projecting seasons into the future is business as usual for fashion magazines like Élan, editor-in-chief Alex™ -- Alexandra Fairchild Ford™, entertainment editor Paris Williams™, and architect and contributing editor Jadde Lee™ have already sussed out the “hot” from the “not” and are ready for a fashion-forward fall. In addition, to insure superior poseability, Madame Alexander is very pleased to present new ‘bent knee’ versions of all three 16-inch dolls, a first for Paris and Jadde! With a daily schedule dense with production and editorial meetings, working lunches and cocktail events, no single word in the English language better sums up Alex Ford’s wardrobe requirement more than ‘versatile.’ The goal is to look professional and elegant without looking austere or too “done” and, of course, to be able to go from day to evening without missing a step. Talk of Tribeca, Alex has struck that delicate balance. A limited edition of 350 dressed dolls, Talk of Tribeca Alex is a suit that pairs a slim, knee-length gray suit with a matching wrap jacket with stylish exaggerated lapels and sleeves cuffed with convincing burgundy faux fur. A wide burgundy leatherette belt cinches waist neatly and ties with burgundy cord, coordinating with a matching handbag. Sheer nude panty hose and black, ankle-wrapped heels with side buckle closings add polish, and for a look of effortless sophistication, Alex wears her long blonde hair fastened in a sleek ponytail. As entertainment editor of a hot New York fashion magazine, Paris often has the occasion to experiment with vibrant colors and playful styles. One perfect example of her hip signature style is Festiva, a dress that would make any occasion sizzle. The bias-cut gown is made from imported French brocade that dazzles with bold color combinations of turquoise, metallic gold, deep pink, and maroon in chevron stripes interspersed with small circles. Created like a strapless bodice, the dress surprises with three slender beaded straps of gold, pink and turquoise that sweep diagonally up to one shoulder, doing away with the need to wear a necklace. The gown’s slender silhouette flares out from the knee in a dramatic mermaid hem that falls in graceful folds to the floor. Delightful accents for this triumphant gown include beaded bracelets that match the shoulder straps, earrings, high-heeled sandals and a beaded-strap handbag. With only 350 of this limited edition being produced, Festiva Paris Williams wears her hair pulled back in a chic ponytail, showing off the attractive pink bead studs in her ears. Jadde Lee™, an award-winning architect and contributing editor to Élan, also has more than her share of occasions when she must pull out all the stops for full-on glamour. Her most prized new fall wardrobe acquisition; Velvet Ropes Jadde Lee™ is a head-turning gown that reflects Jade’s desire for balance and clean lines. She wears a dramatic one-shouldered gown in deep red velvet embellished with swirling flourishes of fine black caviar beading. One side of this form-fitting dress has a long sleeve with a belled cuff, while the opposite side reveals a single, bare shoulder. A long black chiffon scarf draped asymmetrically over one side has red beading at the hem and the skirt is slit high up on the thigh, with a laced up closure over one hip. Cleverly, the gown has been fitted with an attached panty so that it can be worn with complete confidence. Jadde’s accessories include strappy black high-heeled sandals ornamented with the same beading found on the scarf and an elaborate beaded armlet that snakes around the wrist and up the arm to curve behind the neck. Beaded drops swing from Velvet Ropes Jadde Lee’s ears and complete the look of the limited edition of 350 fully dressed dolls. The Alexander Doll Company, a New York-based company, is now celebrating its 79th Anniversary, continuing the tradition, elegance and innovation of Madame Alexander® dolls with a full line of fine quality, handcrafted collectible dolls, baby dolls and play dolls. The company has created a series of "firsts" that have shaped the doll industry and has always been a pioneer of style and quality in this community. ### For More Information Contact: Jane Abrahams or Lisa Olsen, 212/283-5900 Alexander Doll Company, 615 West 131st Street, New York, New York 10027 Phone (212) 283-5900, Fax (212) 283-4901
