Statement on Safety

The Alexander Doll Company has built its reputation over the past 87 years by designing and manufacturing dolls that meet the most stringent quality AND SAFETY standards.  Every doll we produce is subject to rigorous controls to make certain it is worthy of bearing the Madame Alexander name.  The most important element of our quality control process is ensuring that every doll is MANUFACTURERED WITH SAFETY IN MIND IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY STANDARDS.  This requirement is part of the Madame Alexander corporate philosophy and is of paramount importance throughout all phases of design, development, and manufacturing OF OUR PRODUCTS.  The Alexander Doll Company is committed to making sure that every doll we produce-whether Collectible or Play-meets or exceeds applicable government or industry requirements.

We submit samples of our dolls for independent testing and analysis to SGS, a recognized leader in providing inspection, verification, testing and certification services to the global consumer products industry.   Testing is conducted pursuant to APPLICABLE standards of the CPSA, FHSA, The Consumer Protection Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) and ASTM F963.  The SGS Group has been in business for over 130 years and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Our Collectible dolls are designed for and intended for ages fourteen and older.  These dolls are manufactured and tested to meet or exceed the Banned Hazardous Substance requirement for Lead under 16 CFR 1303 as well as the Heavy Metal Limitations for lead, antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, and selenium under ASTM F963.

Our Play dolls, including Babies, are manufactured and tested to meet or exceed all applicable requirements of ASTM F963 "Toy Safety Standard", which by reference includes all requirements of the U.S. Federal standards..  They are designed and intended for a variety of APPROPRIATE ages as indicated on their packaging.  Our packaging for Play dolls also includes any required warnings called for under 16 CFR 1500.19.  Additionally because they are for children they also meet or exceed the requirements for Lead in surface coatings under CPSIA section 101(f), Lead in accessible substrate materials under CPSIA section 101(a)(2), and Phthalates under CPSIA section 108.  Our dolls for children also conform to the limitations for Flammability under 16 CFR 1500.44 and 16 CFR 1610, as applicable.  Finally, we subject our Play dolls to Use and Abuse testing under 16 CFR 1500.50-53, test them for Small Parts under 16 CFR 1501, and check for Sharp Point and Edges under 16 CFR 1500.48/.49.

The staff at the Alexander Doll Company and at our manufacturers are all aware of the requirements discussed above.  We design our dolls with SAFETY IN MIND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SUCH requirements  and perform THE REQUISTE TESTING at our company and manufacturers' facilities to ensure that ALL OUR dolls MEET OR EXCEED EXISTING US SAFETY STANDARDS.  Finally, before production of any new doll leaves the factory, it is tested by an independent laboratory to certify COMPLIANCE WITH all APPROPRIATE safety STANDARDS.

The Alexander Doll Company only produces safe dolls and wants you to be reassured that the doll you purchase for yourself or someone else will truly be a special friend that will only bring happiness with it.
