From Conception to Completion
A doll's journey from imagination to reality is the product of many stages of design, and each is carefully executed. A new doll begins as a series of parts and its colorful personality comes to life through the painting, hair rooting or wigging, dressing and styling processes
Sculpt
The creation of each doll begins with a face, and each face sculpt is a singular work of art. Our company is renowned for its distinctive sculpts used to create a myriad of dolls. The heads of our dolls are produced from our own molds, and each is inspected prior to painting to ensure its high quality.
Painting
Our expert painters further define a doll's character, adding charisma and personality with each touch of color and skillful brush stroke. Stencils are often used to assist in perfectly capturing the arch of a brow or the curve of a lip.
Eyes
It is often said that "the eyes are windows to the soul," and this is true for our Collectible dolls. The color of a doll's eyes is carefully determined by its designer to add to its distinctive personality. Once in production, highly skilled craftspeople particularly paint each eye, and attach delicate, lifelike eyelashes.
Wigs
Madame Alexander dolls are always beautifully coiffed, and our wigs are made of the highest quality synthetic materials, renowned for their softness. Once a hairpiece is secured to a doll's head, a hairstylist goes to work carefully trimming, combing and styling to ensure that every hair is perfectly in place.
Fashion
The wardrobes that distinguish our dolls are legendary, and many of the outfits created by our talented pattern makers and seamstresses would not be out of place in a haute-couture fashion show. Much of an outfit's embellishments and finishing touches are done by hand, such as the tying of a perfect bow.
When a doll's construction is complete, it is thoroughly examined to ensure that every hosiery seam is perfect and every cheek is clean and unblemished. Finally, it is hand placed into its distinctive pink and blue box, tucked into a bed of pink tissue paper - ready to delight children and doll enthusiasts everywhere.
